The Hawaii Fire Department plans to continue its search Thursday morning for a 62-year-old man last seen Monday evening in Waipio Valley, where he reportedly was going for a swim.

The Coast Guard announced Wednesday night that it was suspending its search after searching more than 3,750 square miles.

Hawaii County fire rescue said it has searched on air, shore and sea and also used divers.

The man is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, with short thin white hair.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts are asked to call the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.
