A fire department helicopter crew aided a woman who fell off the Koko Crater Rim Trail .

Fire Capt. Gary Lum said the woman, in her mid-20s, was hiking on the trail when she slipped and slid partway down the side of the mountain Saturday.

The area was difficult to access by foot, so rescue personnel airlifted her to Kamiloiki Elementary School, where Emergency Medical Services personnel treated her. The woman sustained bumps, bruises and scrapes, but declined transport to a hospital, Lum said.

Her two hiking companions called 911 about 1:40 p.m.
