Former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro tight end Doug Cosbie has been named Athletic Relations Associate and head football coach at Kamehameha Schools, athletic director Glennie Adams announced today.

"We are thrilled to have Doug join our staff and are particularly excited for our football program," Adams said in a press release.

Cosbie joins the Warriors with an extensive background in athletics, playing for the Cowboys for 10 years under legendary coach Tom Landry and being selected to the Pro Bowl in each season from 1983-85.

After retiring from the NFL, Cosbie was a volunteer coach at his alma mater, Santa Clara. He also was an assistant under former 49ers coach Bill Walsh at Stanford and was offensive coordinator at Cal. He also was an athletic director and head coach at Menlo College in California.

“Kamehameha Schools and Hawaii are special and unique places with rich histories and I am truly honored and humbled to have the opportunity to lead the Warriors on the football field,” said Cosbie. “There were a large number of highly qualified candidates for the position of head football coach at Kamehameha. I am blessed and grateful to have been chosen.”

Cosbie replaces David Stant, who stepped down from the positions of Athletic Relations Associate and head football coach in February.

Sounds almost too good to be true. Hope he can make Warrior football exciting again. His resume seems to be as an offense-minded coach and that's always crowd pleasing. Go Warriors!
