The University of Hawaii Board of Regents has appointed a task group, chaired by regent John Holzman, to start the process of selecting the next UH president.

Other regents on the task group are Saedene Ota and Jan Sullivan.

In a written statement, the board said they “made no substantive decision about the selection process,” at a closed-door meeting this afternoon.

The board will hold a public meeting early next month to consider the process for selecting the university’s next president.

The board will appoint a selection committee, composed of regents, at that meeting. A date was not announced.

UH President M.R.C. Greenwood announced she is retiring in September.

Greenwood is paid  $427,512 and also gets a housing allowance of $60,000 a year and a car allowance of $3,912.
