Woman allegedly tries to cash check taken in burglary

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

Police arrested a 50-year-old woman on Friday after she allegedly tried to cash a stolen check at a credit union on Kapiolani Boulevard.

According to police, the suspect had cashed another stolen check a day earlier. The checks were taken from an 81-year-old man during a burglary, police said.

The suspect, who does not have a local address, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery and third-degree theft.

There is no allegedly here. This woman either cashed a stolen check or did not cash a stolen check - there should be no hesitation in identifying what was done..

The sad part is that she will probably be handed a short sentence or possibly probation. This woman stole from an elderly man who probably lives on a fixed income. Laws should be enacted that would add time for victimizing our elderly. They are very vulnerable to creeps like this.
