Hawaii Health Connector, the nonprofit setting up an online health insurance marketplace as part of Obamacare, said today it awarded a $12 million customer service contract to Virginia-based Maximus Health Services Inc.

The mainland company will be responsible for the development, implementation and management, including support services, of the Connector’s customer service contact center, according to an announcement.

The contact center will be based on Oahu and Maximus Health Services will hire as many as 25 staffers to manage its operations and services.

The contract award will fund the contact center through 2017.

Another nonprofit benevolent company run as an arm of government makes it more expensive for everyone. Just look at industries where the government isn't involved much and you can see prices going down and technology getting better. Cell phones, computers , electronics, they all compete to lower prices and make better products. Non Profit means we don't care about waste and fraud, there's no incentive to make a profit anyway; we get our money from the government; which gets it through the people by taxation or inflation.
