Jared Sawada overcame 17-year-old Richard Hattori in the afternoon round to win the 105th Manoa Cup, 2 and 1, today at Oahu Country Club.

Hattori, a recent high school graduate, was 5-under par in the morning round and held a 2-up advantage when the finalists broke for lunch. Sawada, who just graduated from University of Hawaii, birdied the 20th and 23rd holes to tie the match.

Hattori bogeyed the 27th and 29th holes — both par-3s — to trail for the first time and Sawada ended it with a five-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole.

Sawada had 11 birdies in his 35 holes and Hattori had seven more.
