Fire rescue crews rescue 2 hikers in separate incidents

Honolulu fire rescue crews assisted distressed hikers in Palolo and Nuuanu Sunday.

At 12:38 p.m., firefighters were called to the Kaau Crater Trail in Palolo to help a woman in her 50s who had injured her ankle and was unable to continue.

The woman was airlifted to a landing zone established at Palolo District Park.

At 2:20 p.m., firefighters assisted a woman, also in her 50s, who became lost while hiking along a trail near the Nuuanu reservoir.

The crew located the woman and airlifted her to safety.
