A 17-year-old Kalihi boy whose body was found on Kalanianaole Highway near Sandy Beach on April 12 was acutely intoxicated when he suffered fatal injuries involving a moving vehicle, the Honolulu medical examiner’s office said Monday.
Boydshiro A. Maycry died of head injuries caused by blunt force trauma, the office said.
Maycry had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.221, nearly three times the legal threshold for drunken driving.
Police in April said it appeared Maycry fell from a vehicle, and that there was no evidence he was hit by a vehicle. Police said they were investigating whether Maycry was riding on the hood of a car in a craze known as hood surfing or ghost riding.
