Hawaii is the eighth-most entrepreneurial state in the U.S., according to a CNNMoney report.

Hawaii’s start-up rate is 400 per 100,000 adults, versus top-ranked Montana, which boasts 530 start-ups per 100,000 adults. No. 10 Nevada has 390 per 100,000.

CNNMoney interviewed U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, who discussed public and private initiatives of which entrepreneurs are availing themselves.

The story also mentions Henk Rogers’ technology accelerator Blue Planet, which, among others, is mentoring Internet, software, mobile and e-commerce companies.

The top 10:

1. Montana

2. Vermont

3. New Mexico

4. Alaska

5. Mississippi

6. California

7. Idaho

8. Hawaii

9. Louisiana

10. Nevada
