Wayne Hirabayashi, executive chef of the Kahala Hotel & Resort, has been named Outstanding Manger of the Year in the Large Property category, by the American Hotel & Lodging Association.
The association presented him the award at its Stars of the Industry awards luncheon at the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in Denver, Colo, Tuesday.
Hirabayashi joined The Kahala’s culinary team in March 1998 as executive sous chef for Hoku’s, and worked his way up.
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hirabayashi was named executive chef at the Kahala in April of 1999.
