Andrew Zimmern’s Hawaii visit in November will be the focus of “Bizarre Foods America” Monday on the Travel Channel.

The episode “Undiscovered Hawaii” will debut at 6 p.m. Monday, and will show Zimmern getting a rare opportunity to fish with local people in the remote village of Milolii on Hawaii island, as well as visiting other off-the-beaten path locales on the Big Island and on Oahu.

Viewers will see Zimmern’s attempts at pounding pai ai; at consuming the bile sac of a dried octopus, and for the less-adventurous, sampling shave ice, among other escapades.

More like funny kine mout (actually, tastebuds). Yeah, I can't figure that one either (not being able to handle spam). He also can't handle durian, but Anthony Bourdain and Samantha Brown had no problems with it. I guess Zimmern's Kryptonite is composed of spam, almonds and durian.

If he tries to be local and calls octopus other than that, hopefully it will be the Hawaiian term... he'e ... and not "tako". The same for edible seaweed ... limu ...not "ogo". After all, this IS Hawai'i.
