A fire Thursday scorched four to five acres of brush in Waianae at Paheehee Road.

The blaze was reported at 4:57 p.m. and firefighters brought it under control by 6:16 p.m., using four engines, a ladder truck, two tankers and a helicopter.

The fire ran up the hillside, said Capt. Robert Main, but the Fire Department’s helicopter was able to halt the fire at the crest of the hill, he said.

No people were threatened, but firefighters protected a couple of abandoned structures, Main said.

The cause is under investigation.
