Beretania Street fire believed to be arson

Fire investigators have turned over an investigation into a fire at a lower Makiki house fire on Saturday over to arson experts at the Honolulu Police Department after determining it was deliberately set.

The fire destroyed an older, unoccupied home at 1095 South Beretania Street, between Pensacola and Victoria streets, at about 5:50 p.m. Saturday. Damage was estimated at $225,000.
