Kauai child dies after being hit by vehicle inside garage

Authorities on Kauai report that a 2-year-old girl died after being struck by a truck at a Kekaha residence Sunday night.

The child was struck at about 7:15 p.m. in the garage of the home.

Attempts by emergency services personnel to resuscitate the child were unsuccessful, and she was taken to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Kauai Police Department is investigating.
