An overdue fishing boat with three people on board was located this morning and everyone is safe, a Coast Guard spokesperson said.

The Coast Guard launched a search for the 28-foot recreational vessel off the leeward coast of Oahu after family members called to say the boat did not return last night.

The Honolulu Fire Department helicopter joined the search this morning and flew over coastal waters between Kawailoa to Kaena Point.

Other details were not immediately available.
