Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire early this morning that destroyed a house in Pupukea and displaced nine people.

The fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to the structure, $50,000 to its contents and $70,000 to two passenger vehicles, a truck and a motorcycle, said fire Capt. Terry Seelig. The fire started in a second-floor bedroom, he said.

No one was injured in the two-story house fire.

The fire was reported at 12:10 a.m. It  took 35 firefighters 30 minutes to get the blaze at 59-542 Alapio Road under control at 12:46 a.m.

The American Red Cross is helping the displaced occupants.
