Police arrested two men in Nanakuli, ages 27 and 28, for allegedly threatening a 24-year-old man.

A police sergeant traveling in Nanakuli Thursday witnessed a fight at about 3:15 p.m. on the side of the road. As she approached, the officer heard a gunshot and saw a 27-year-old man as a possible shooter, police said.

The sergeant chased the suspect, who was riding a moped, and stopped him nearby. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree reckless endangering, and altering the identification number of a weapon.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man with the same last name and home address on three contempt warrants.

Police said their investigation showed that the 28-year-old allegedly got to the scene with the gun first and later handed it to the younger man.

Wait, an HPD officer, hears a gunshot, sees a gun, gives chase and does not shoot the guy dead? Do they teach a different class for federal officers who DO NOT have arresting powers?

Kuli, Sounds like these two ran and surrendered. Rollover, play dead, chase your tail, shake hand, and you don't get shot. You don't need arresting powers if you licensed to carry. Try slapping around any armed federal officer with an attitude and telling them to go ahead and shoot after they had a few beers. Let us know what happens. YOU can be the next hot topic in the SA forums.

IRT Nanakuli, agree with you. For a young cop, especially a female, she's got olos! I wonder if she knew she could've used deadly force for her safety. OF COURSE SHE DID! Good job, HPD!

I'll bet that if the guy made threatening moves, he would have gotten shot. It's all in how a person reacts to authority. Don't you know that?

Good point. We've got to see a photo of this hot shot. She's either great looking or a 3rd generation HPD nepotism beneficiary.

Why can't they carry a gun? If Deely can for self defense against a gun that was unarmed why can people?

WOW! I was looking for this story because I was passing by with my wife and saw this unfold right on the side of the road. Because of traffic we were stuck in it and I knew I heard a gunshot but did not see the gun. As we were moving in traffic I looked back and saw the Blue lights flashing but could not understand why the fight continued if there was a cop there. now I know why. As I proceeded to Waianae and saw Police after police rushing to the scene I knew that the sound I heard was fron a gunshot. Good job HPD
