LAST UPDATED: 06:22 a.m. HST, Sep 01, 2013

Honolulu police closed Kalanianaole Highway between the Makai Pier and the Makapuu lookout for more than an hour after a three-vehicle accident this afternoon.

Police said the crash happened just after 1 p.m. Saturday near Makapuu Beach Park. The highway reopened by 2:30 p.m.

A Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said the three-vehicle crash injured involved six people and that five of those people were transported for treatment: two in serious condition to the Queen's Medical Center and three in less serious condition to Castle Medical Center.

Those injured include a 13-year-old boy and at least one man and one woman of unknown ages, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.

It's the second time Saturday that the highway was closed following a crash.

This morning, police closed Kalanianaole Highway between Hanauma Bay and the Halona Blowhole lookout for more than an hour because of a motor vehicle accident.

The accident happened near the Koko Head shooting range at about 11 a.m. The road was reopened before 12:30 p.m.

Clearly someone does not know how to drive and needs to have their license revoked. If you obey the law at these points there is no excuse for a collision.

IRT living, all is not as clear as you presume. Maybe the drive suffered a medical condition and swayed into oncoming traffic.

Accident must have happened earlier than 1pm because police closed the road before 11am.

Had 2 accidents. One before 11, and the other one after 1. Closed the road both times.
