Weather service issues brush fire warning for all leeward coasts

By Star-Advertiser staff

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the leeward areas of all islands effective until 6 p.m. Sunday.

The warning was prompted by increased chances for critical fire conditions as a result of strengthening trade winds and low relative humidity.

Forecasters have predicted easterly winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph and relative humidity as low as 44 percent on Sunday.
