Crews contain brush fire in Kapolei

Honolulu firefighters contained a 3-acre brush fire that threatened homes in Kapolei Sunday.

The fire, first reported around 7:25 p.m., was located off Renton Road and Ihi Place and came within 100 feet of homes in the area, according to Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Tyler Chan.

Three engine companies, two tankers a brush truck and a battalion chief responded to the call.
