The Honolulu Police Department opened Pensacola Street at 10:45 p.m. today, after a possible gas leak was reported at 7:40 p.m., prompting police to shut down the street.

An underground gas leak was discovered on the Pensacola Street side of McKinley High School's campus this evening, a fire official said.

Police announced at 7:51 p.m. the closure of Pensacola between Elm and Rycroft streets.

Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Terry Seelig said the leak was small and was coming up at a low rate.
