Hawaii island man, woman charged after crystal meth found in home

A Hawi man and woman were charged with drug charges Wednesday after police served a search warrant and found crystal methamphetamine at their house Tuesday.

Steven Pang, 46,  was charged with first-degree meth trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $52,000.

Nicole Hayes, 26, was charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $4,000. Both were being held in the Kona police cellblock pending a court appearance Thursday.

On Tuesday, officers from the Area II Vice Section, along with community-policing officers and North Kohala patrol officers served a search warrant on a home on Hiwahiwa Street. Police said they recovered 120 grams of a crystalline substance and paraphernalia associated with methamphetamine use and distribution.

Police encourage members of the public to report suspected narcotics activity to the Police Department’s Ice Hotlines at 329-"ZERO-ICE" (329-0423) for information pertaining to the Districts of Kau, Kona, South Kohala and North Kohala, and at 934-"VICE" (934-8423) for information pertaining to the districts of Puna, South Hilo, North Hilo and Hamakua.
