Tropical Storm Lorena has re-formed farther north in the eastern Pacific, leading to storm warnings for parts of the Mexico coast.
The U.S. Hurricane Center in Miami said late Thursday night that Lorena is located 125 miles west of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico. It has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving at 13 mph.
A tropical storm warning has been issued for Baja California Sur from Agua Blanca to Buenavista. A tropical storm watch has also been issued for the west coast of Baja California Sur north of Agua Blanca to Santa Fe.
Forecasters say Lorena’s center will approach the southern part of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula on Friday and be near or over land by Saturday.
The storm is expected to bring 3 to 5 inches of rain to the southwest coast of Mexico and the southern portion of the Baja California peninsula.
