LAST UPDATED: 04:30 p.m. HST, Sep 09, 2013

Power was restored to all Hawaiian Electric customers after a car hit a power pole on Dillingham Boulevard on Sunday.

About 200 customers were without power as crews worked on replacing the pole.

HECO spokeswoman Donna Mun said power was restored at 5:12 pm. The pole was damaged from a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident and a permanent replacement was installed by 1:45 a.m. this morning, she said by email.

Disconsolate person probably. Who in their right mind would do such a despicable act? Hit and run says everything because a sensible person, and there are 97% of us who r sensible, will have reported the incident, stood by, and asked the authorities if it was okay to move on.

Remember when those poles were blown down, then replaced then blown down again and someone suggested to put them underground--makes sense and cents. I know, a lot of time you have to invest a bunch upfront, but in the long run????
