Maui firefighters discovered the body of a missing snorkeler Tuesday evening off Napili Point.

Fire officials said the snorkeler is a 78-year-old man from Carlsbad, Calif., who was last seen entering the water at 3 p.m. to go snorkeling. The man’s family got concerned when he failed to meet them at 4 p.m., and called 911.

The Maui Fire Department’s rescue helicopter crew spotted the man 75 yards off Napili Point at 6:10 p.m. The Lahaina fire rescue boat retrieved the body, fire officials said.
