Man arrested, 7 alleged gaming devices seized from arcade

    Honolulu prosecutors say this machine was seized from a game room in Century Center.

Law enforcement officers arrested a man and seized seven alleged gambling devices Thursday morning. from an arcade in the Kapiolani area.

The city prosecutor’s office said a search warrant was executed at Game Zone II at 1750 Kalakaua Ave. in Century Center and seized the Product Direct Sweepstakes devices.

They were taken as evidence in an ongoing investigation, the prosecutor’s office said in a news release.

Police also arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and promoting a dangerous drug. He was released pending investigation.

Lawyers for the arcades have contended the machines are not gambling devices.

City Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro said in the release, "This is part of continuing operations by law enforcement to rid our neighborhoods and communities of illegal gambling devices."
