CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man whose body was found on Sunday on Mililani Cemetery Road near Ka Uka Boulevard.

Police have opened a murder investigation surrounding a reportedly severed body found at about 4:40 p.m. in a ravine near Mililani Memorial Park Road in Waipio by a couple collecting cans. According to a Hawaii News Now report (KHNL), Joseph and Sheer Sotelo spotted a garbage bag and other items down the side of a cliff. When Joseph Sotelo moved closer to the items, he reportedly saw a "top half" of a severed body.

Homicide detectives are at the Waipio crime scene today. Crimestoppers describes the victim as a large-build man with tattoos, including: a cross on a calf; "evil," "pain" and "hatered" written in an band around a wrist; and a design on an upper arm.

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public's assistance in locating any witnesses or any additional information about the victim. According to a news release issued by CrimeStoppers, the body may have been at the crime scene since Thursday.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *CRIME on cellular phone. Anonymous text and web tips may be sent by texting "CS808" plus your message to 274637 or CRIMES.

The 'competition' has a picture of the 'cross,' too. Dude was beheaded & police call this a 'possible' homicide. Wonder what evidence it takes to make it a 'real' homicide?

Competition news sites showed pix of the cross, too. Funny how the police call it 'potential homicide' when the guy was decapitated. Wonder what other evidence it would take to be considered a 'real homicide'?
