Rain expected on Oahu and Kauai

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 01:46 p.m. HST, Sep 24, 2013

A weather system moving over the western half of the state is bringing rain to Oahu this afternoon and evening.

Those showers are also expected to move over Kauai tonight.

The rain should fall mostly on windward and mauka sections of the islands, but some showers may blow over to leeward areas.

The forecast for Honolulu calls for a 50 percent chance of rain this afternoon and evening.

National Weather Service forecaster Ian Morrison said Honolulu can expect passing showers, with moderate but brief rainfall in mountain and windward sections of Oahu.

The weather should be drier through the weekend on leeward areas. But showers will continue, off and on, for windward and mauka areas.

Why is this even news? A few sprinkles and it's news? Must be a very slow news day.

Rain expected on Oahu and Kauai..................But not on the West side. Always hear about rain but the Westside not included. That is why the westside of the island should get FREE solar and the excess energy power the rest of the island. No need underground cable to Maui to get wind power energy.
