Former Hawaii All-American hitter Kanani Danielson put down 10 kills in two sets and Toyota Auto Body played tenacious defense in sweeping the Rainbow Wahine 25-18, 26-24, 25-22 in an exhibition volleyball match tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

A turnstile crowd of 3,653 (5.798 tickets) watched as Saki Takeda put down a match-highi 16 kills and the Nagoya-based pro team out-dug Hawaii 62-55 over 90 minutes.

Sophomore hitter Tai Manu-Olevao finished with a team-high 11 kills and was just one of two Wahine to play all three sets. The other was senior libero Ali Longo, who finished with nine digs.

UH coach Dave Shoji used 15 players in the warmup for Friday's Big West Conference opener against Cal State Fullerton. The match with the Titans will start at 7 p.m.

Senior All-American Emily Hartong had six kills and an ace in two sets and senior hitter Ashley Kastl added seven kills when coming off the bench in Set 3.

Let me make this perfectly clear -- Richard Nixon. Time will tell -- don't know whom (correct me if it needs to be who). At least Dave did not play this match like it was the final of the NCAA tournament (goodness if Emily got injured). The number of digs were great, in that UH kept up with the Nagoya team. Does this mean that Kanani is in Japan for some time? I guess so. If Hawaii got a game (or set or whatever they are called) off the Toyota team, it would have been great. Japan is one of the powers in Women's Volleyball, and it just goes to show one does not need 6 foot 5 players to win, although I did not check out the heights of the Japanese players. Typical that Americans are taller because, well just because. Smorgasbord of thoughts and no i did not know how to spell that huge S word, as this mini iPad helped me. By the way, I see a latest commercial by Microsoft comparing their Surface to an iPad, and again Microsoft is up to its tricks. First of all, I have never seen a spell checker on their Internet Explorer. Secondly the difference in price of $599 to $349 does not compare features. Last, the iPad does not need a USB port because we have iCloud. Let us see how fast u can read this paragraph, Mr. Gates.
