A Honolulu police detective is testifying at a military hearing to determine whether a Marine should be court-martialed on charges he murdered a prostitute visiting Hawaii.

Master Sgt. Nathaniel Cosby's Article 32 hearing is being held today at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The hearing is the military's equivalent of a preliminary hearing in civilian court.

Dru Akagi testified Ivanice Harris was seen on surveillance footage outside a Waikiki bar with a  man the night she disappeared in May. Akagi says Harris texted her boyfriend and pimp that she was going to an Aston hotel.

Harris' body was found in a barren brush in the Yokohama Beach Park area more than 30 miles from Waikiki.

Harris was originally from Oregon. She was visiting from Las Vegas to celebrate her 29th birthday.

So now it's out! The SA can use the P word for the victim, but we're not allowed. Turns out she WAS on a working vacation, and not just a "visitor" from Vegas. Her boyfriend/fiancé/whatever is actually her business manager.

And yes, I hope that the suspect gets what he deserves, but it's time for the SA to stop sugar-coating some of the facts in these stories.
