By Star-Advertiser staff

Police caught a suspected bicycle thief early Saturday morning in the Waikiki area after he was stopped for riding a bicycle on the sidewalk, police said.

Patrol officers stopped a 24-year-old Ala Wai man around 4:20 a.m. for riding a bicycle on the sidewalk and discovered that the bicycle was recently reported stolen, according to police records.

Officers arrested the man on suspicion of second-degree theft. Police said they also found drugs and arrested him on suspicion of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.

Everyone ride bike on sidewalk. Even mopeds. He can probably argue and get discovery thrown out, "fruit of the forbidden tree" if they make a big enough issue of it. Hate the legal system.
