Hawaii County police have found a 7-year-old Kailua-Kona boy at the home of a friend in Kalaoa after he was reported missing following school Wednesday.

Alexander Kaiser was determined to be safe at a friend's home and was returned to his parents, police said.

Kona patrol officers said they got a 3 p.m. call from Holualoa Elementary School that the boy did not arrive home after catching the school bus.

Police issued a call for help from the public in locating the child, and issued a notification that he had been found at 5:50 p.m.

I did the same naughty thing when I was a kid. Slumbering at a friends house without telling my father and mother. Got a good kick in front of my friend, and some money for food. Good folks make for a good life.
