Kau man, 58, charged with several drug offenses

Hawaii County authorities have charged a 58-year-old Kau man with several drug offenses after police searched his home last week.

Vice officers served a search warrant Thursday on a Bamboo Lane home in Ocean View. There they recovered 113 marijuana plants up to 3 feet tall, one pound of dried marijuana, 22.2 grams of hashish, 4.5 grams of heroin, eight prescription pills and paraphernalia used to distribute and cultivate marijuana.

Police arrested David Klemz, 58, and two other Ocean View men, ages 51 and 43.

Klemz was charged Friday with commercial promotion of marijuana, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting detrimental drugs, promoting harmful drugs and drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $36,000.

Klemz was also charged with promoting prison contraband in connection with an unrelated grand jury indictment. His bail in that case is $10,000.

He was also arrested and charged for a no-bail warrant for probation revocation.

Alan Greiner, 51, was arrested and charged on two unrelated bench warrants for failure to appear in court, but was released pending investigation on any offenses relating to the search warrant.

The 43-year-old was released pending investigation.
