Authorities ID man killed in Vegas club shooting

LAST UPDATED: 01:44 a.m. HST, Oct 23, 2013

LAS VEGAS >> Authorities have identified a man who was killed while trying to stop a shooting at an after-hours nightclub in a Las Vegas Strip casino.

Charging documents filed Tuesday say Kenneth Brown was the patron who died in the shooting early Monday at Drai's After Hours inside Bally's hotel-casino.

Brown's mother, Norma Sattiewhite, tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal her son is 40 and recently moved to Las Vegas from Los Angeles.

Police say 41-year-old Benjamin Frazier started shooting because he was upset when he didn't get a refund of a cover charge that a casino official says was $30.

Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie says Brown jumped on the gunman after a manager and security guard were wounded, and his actions may have prevented more bloodshed.

A classic example of penny wise and dollar dumb on the nightclub. Top Las Vegas nightclubs take in several million dollars per month, unheard of in the nightclub business in major US cities. They should of just refunded the cover charge of $30 dollars, and move on to the next customer. Now, the Bally nightclub stands to lose millions from the bad publicity, and millions more from the casino and hotel revenues, until the public forgets about it.
