Waiawa Correctional Facility escapee found at Honolulu hospital

An inmate who escaped from the Waiawa Correctional Facility Saturday was found at a Honolulu hospital Tuesday.

Police learned Raphael Hernandez was at the Queen's Medical Center. Hernandez, 32, was arrested for second-degree escape at 3:15 p.m today, but remained at Queen's this evening .

State sheriffs and police launched a search Saturday after the minimum-security inmate was reporting missing at 6 a.m. Saturday. 

Hernandez was serving a five-year sentence for promotion of a dangerous drug.

Waiawa is a luxury prison located in the mountains with beautiful scenery, great food and comfortable living conditions. Its purpose is to house "low risk", non violent prisoners. Not sure why anyone would want to escape this facility. Not sure why we even have this luxury resort in the prison system to begin with...
