Hawaii Tobacco Quitline offers online coaching

The Hawaii Tobacco Quitline has added online coaching service to the free nicotine patches and gum presently offered to help smokers and other tobacco users quit.

The nonprofit's web-based service includes customizable quitting plans without calls from a Quit Coach, according to a statement.

Enrollment is confidential via www.ClearTheSmoke.org, though services will continue to be offered through the toll-free phone line at 1-800-QUIT-NOW.

Both services are available 24 hours a day.

"With the University of Hawaii at Manoa and more beaches and parks going smoke-free next year, we believe this service will inspire people to quit," said Lola Irvin, project manager, in a statement.
