State volleyball: Kamehameha wins D-I, Konawaena D-II

Kamehameha captured its first Division I girls volleyball title since 2010 with a straight-set sweep of Punahou 25-19, 25-20, 25-15, Friday in the New City Nissan/HHSAA girls volleyball championships at Kamehameha-Hawaii. 

Alohi Robins-Hardy blasted 13 kills and 16 digs and Tiyana Hallums added 12 as the Warriors ended the Buffanblu's two-year D-I championship reign. Kamehameha won state titles from 2005 to 2010.

McKenna Rose Granato led Punahou with 10 kills.

In Division II, sophomore outside hitter Chanelle Molina had 28 kills and 20 digs Friday to lead the Konawaena to the HHSAA state girls volleyball title with a 25-16, 24-26, 25-18, 25-21 victory over top-seeded Hawaii Prepatory Academy at McKinley.

Freshman outside hitter Celena Molina added 29 digs and senior setter Keahelaumakani Wall had 44 assists for the third-seeded Wildcats.

Junior Gabbie Ewing had 22 kills and 25 digs while senior Tiana Reynolds added 12 kills and 20 digs to lead Ka Makani.

Also, Mililani and St. Francis each won three-set matches tonight to take third place in their respective HHSAA state girls volleyball tournaments.

Mililani grabbed third in the Division I tournament with a 25-23, 26-27, 25-11 win over Moanalua at Kamehameha-Hawaii School on the Big Island.

St. Francis was third in the D-II tournament after a 26-24, 24-26, 15-11 win over Waimea at McKinley High.

Kahuku finished fifth in the D-I tournament with a 25-20, 25-19 win over Kamehameha-Hawaii, and University took fifth in D-II with a 25-23, 26-24 win over Seabury Hall.
