Kamehameha Highway was reopened to traffic in both directions after repairs to utility poles downed during Saturday night's stormy weather were completed this afternoon.

Crews restored power to Jameson's by the Sea restaurant in Haleiwa after a utility pole fell there Saturday night.

Power was restored by 2:30 p.m., said HECO spokeswoman Donna Mun.

Hawaiian Electric Co. crews also estored power to the last 33 customers affected by a utility pole that fell in Laie after it was apparently struck by lightning Saturday night.

Mun said power was restored by 7:40 a.m., but telephone crews continued working on the pole to restore phone service.

For a while after the poles went down, the North Shore was cut off in two places as police shut down the highway.

Police  were later able to set up contra-flow lanes to direct traffic around the repair work.
