Wahoo’s Fish Taco in Kahala will close after service a week from Tuesday.

Franchise owners Stephanie Gambetta and Noel Pietsch Shaw announced plans to close the eatery after selling the location to Japan-based Central Restaurant Group, which is planning its first Hawaii restaurant.

The sisters’ second Wahoo’s location did not have the sales volume needed to sustain the restaurant, Shaw said.

Most of the store’s 23 employees will be offered jobs at the Ward Avenue Wahoo’s, its Sandy Beach lunch wagon, its catering company, or some combination thereof.
