Fire and Ocean Safety personnel concluded their three-day search at dusk Saturday for missing Haleiwa surfer Kirk Passmore.

His surfboard, broken in half with its leash pulled out, was recovered at Chun's Reef.

Passmore grew up in Carlsbad, Calif., and surfed in Mexico, Baja California, southern France and Maverick's in Northern California, accoding to family and friends.

The Coast Guard ended its search at sunset Friday.

Thank you to all the first responders, lifeguards, water safety personal, fire dept and coast guard.

I know that if I ever find myself in a bad situation, I will be able to swim and tread water and hang on just a little longer knowing how hard you are looking for me. Your tireless work is a inspiration and a hope to all those who find themselves alone in the waves and the ocean. Warmest mahalo!
