Maui fire crews aid woman tourist hiking near Makena Beach

Maui firefighters airlifted to safety a 56-year-old woman from Ohio who was injured while hiking at Puu Olai near Makena Beach Sunday afternoon.

The woman sustained minor injuries to her hip and leg in a fall and also complained of exhaustion, according a Maui Fire Department report.

She was airlifted off the trail to a secured landing zone but declined transport to a hospital.
