Maui firefighters rescued a 63-year-old man who fell about 25-feet feet from the Pali lookout Saturday evening.

Wailuku and Kahului firefighters arrived on scene following the 6:52 p.m. call and located the man about a 1/4 mile south of the scenic lookout.

Firefighters hiked down to the man, provided first aid, secured him in a basket and hiked him out.

"It was a bought extrication due to the topography," said Battalion Chief Val Martin. "It took 12 personnel to walk him out over very rocky terrain and elevation."

Ambulance crews took the man to Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition.
