The parent company of a Kapolei recycling operation will ring the NASDAQ closing bell Thursday in Times Square.

Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc.'s president and chief executive officer, Tamara Lundgren, will ring the bell, according to a NASDAQ statement.

Portland-based Schnitzer Steel manufactures and exports recycled ferrous metal products.

Schnitzer Steel Hawaii Corp., its Kapolei operation, is Honolulu's largest recycler, processing more than 100,000 tons of metal annually from vehicles, appliances and other large items.
