H-1 westbound lanes to be closed for 'PM Contraflow' work

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 06:43 a.m. HST, Nov 23, 2013

Road crews will shut down the three left Ewa-bound lanes on the H-1 freeway from 6 p.m. Sunday through 4:30 a.m Monday.

The closure will take place between the Kaahumanu Street Overpass and the H-1/H-2 merge, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Those three lanes will be closed again nightly, Monday through Wednesday, starting at 7:30 p.m., according to a DOT release. The closures are weather permitting, and drivers should allow for extra time to deal with the traffic congestion.

The work is for road repairs related to state's ongoing "PM Contraflow" project, which aims to eventually ease some of the congestion on H-1 heading into West Oahu. For more details visit www.pmcontraflow.com

Isn't the PM Contraflow project scrapped? So why do they keep saying "PM Contraflow work". Just say H1 repairs. Since work has been stopped for several months, how about fixing the eastbound (town bound) lanes in the same area. From the H1/H2 merge to the Kaahumanu overpass it's still in bad condition, especially the 2 right lanes. Westbound lanes is better than before, now fix the eastbound lanes.
