Waipahu man, 37, charged with assault in plastic-sandal beating

Police have charged a 37-year-old Waipahu man after he allegedly beat a 40-year-old woman with a plastic sandal early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the two were arguing when the suspect struck the victim with the sandal, causing substantial injury to her head.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and charged Friday with second-degree assault. His bail was set at $11,000.
