The University of Hawaii athletic department said it has been contacted by a spectator it has sought to interview about the Nov. 17 melee at the Stan Sheriff Center.

"We believe the man (pictured in video) has contacted our offices and we will interview him for his side of the story," athletic director Ben Jay said Tuesday.

Jay did not identify the spectator or when the meeting will take place. No charges have been filed stemming from the disturbance.

Jay and arena manager Rich Sheriff suffered injuries in attempting to break up a clash in the seats that followed the West Virginia-UH Wahine basketball game, which West Virginia won.

Jay, who was hospitalized with back and kidney injuries last week, returned to work Monday. Sheriff has remained at work after suffering several lacerations.

West Virginia and the Big 12 Conference sanctioned Mountaineer assistant coach Lester Rowe last week. Rowe's actions were judged in violation of the Big 12 Conference's Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct rules that prohibit coaches, athletes, and university staff from committing abusive acts toward an opponent's fans, the conference said.
