Boise State is making its second appearance in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, it was announced Sunday by bowl executive director David A.K. Matlin.

According to sources, the expected opponent is Oregon State of the Pac-12, making it one of the more attractive games on the non-BCS level. The official announcement is expected at 5 p.m. Hawaii time.

The game will be played on Christmas Eve with a local kickoff time of 3 p.m. The Broncos are still recovering from the departure of head coach Chris Petersen, who announced this week that he is leaving to be the main man at the University of Washington.

The Broncos are the runner-up in the West Division of the Mountain West Conference. The game will be shown nationally on ESPN-TV.

Fortunately Aloha Stadium's seats are primarily in Bronco Blue and Orange so the stadium crowd will look a lot larger!

They're lucky they didn't get stuck with a team such as San Jose State. The Broncos travel well, so they should bring a lot of fans here from Boise, especially to escape the cold weather around Christmas time. Same with the Oregon State fans.

To bad their coach left the program. Never thought that Petersen would ever leave Boise. Must have been a good offer. We'll see how much die hard football fans there are in Hawaii. Should be fun to watch Boise beat up on whatever team that will be coming.

Boise St or Wyoming will steal the terrific DC Kaumeyer from UH. Both teams heard and saw his stats as a DC for U.H. It's nice to daydream, right Kaumeyer?

this is a good match up. so glad none of the sorry conference USA teams are not coming. Though a Rice and Boise game would be worth watching.

Very smart choices because both teams are here in the diamond head basketball tournament as well.

I would like to know how they pulled this off because isn't the Hawaii Bowl contractually obligated to pick from Conference USA?
