Kona winds are bringing vog and could bring heavy rain this weekend.

National Weather Service forecasters say a cold front 300 miles northwest of Kauai is stalling and cutting off the usual cooling trade winds.

The light southeasterly winds brought some afternoon and evening showers over Honolulu Thursday.

The southeast winds will bring volcanic haze from Hawaii island to Oahu starting Friday afternoon through early next week.

Forecasters say another storm system will push the stalled cold front over Kauai Saturday night and Oahu on Sunday and could bring heavy rain and possibly thunder storms.

The forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of rain in Honolulu Sunday through Tuesday.
