Police say rowdy Waikiki bar patron assaulted officer

Police arrested a 23-year-old Ala Moana man who allegedly assaulted a police officer early Sunday morning in Waikiki.

According to police, the man was being escorted out of a bar for assaulting a fellow patron when he allegedly assaulted a doorman and took the doorman’s phone.

Police responded and the suspect allegedly assaulted a 24-year-old male officer as the officer was attempting to put the suspect into a police vehicle.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a law enforcement officer, second-degree theft, third-degree assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and refusing to leave a liquor establishment.
