Police arrested a 23-year-old Ala Moana man who allegedly assaulted a police officer early Sunday morning in Waikiki.

According to police, the man was being escorted out of a bar for assaulting a fellow patron when he allegedly assaulted a doorman and took the doorman's phone.

Police responded and the suspect allegedly assaulted a 24-year-old male officer as the officer was attempting to put the suspect into a police vehicle.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a law enforcement officer, second-degree theft, third-degree assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and refusing to leave a liquor establishment.

People who drink and become crazy, violent and disorderly know that is how they become from their friends or drinking buddies. Their friends tell them, "Oh brah, you was nuts last night after you got drunk and wanted to beef with everybody". I have told some of my friends that same thing, but they don't care and keep drinking till they get nuts again. I usually stay away keep my distance from those guys at parties when their getting drunk and never invite them to my house unless they promise not to drink. Getting drunk and out of control is no excuse and it is also not a defense (self induced intoxication) under Hawaii law.

Got stinking drunk once and got dickens of a beating from 3 thugs, back in the early 50's and while in the service. Have managed to stay sober ever since and have passed my 88 birthday. Stay sober, if you drink, for heaven's sake don't drive.
